Body Composition in Babies

This study examines body composition, motor development, and cognitive development in infants from 3 months to 3 years. Participants complete questionnaires, PEAPOD (infant)/ BODPOD (parent/guardian) body composition scans. The goal is to understand how changes in body fat and fat-free mass relate to motor skills and cognitive development in early childhood.

Who

  • Children between 3 and 36 months old, can be repeated every 3 months
  • The child’s guardian

What

  • Guardians will:
    • Fill out questionnaires on the child’s developmental milestones
    • Undergo a BOD POD assessment
  • Children will:
    • Play developmental games
    • Undergo the PEA POD or BOD POD assessment, dependent on their length and weight
  • Every time you complete a visit, you earn $50/hour in the form of an Amazon gift card

When…

  • Study visits last 1-2 hours
  • You can come as many times as you want (every 3 months) until your child is 36 months
  • Fill out the BiBs Participant Interest Form and we will reach out to you
  • Scheduling is extremely flexible, and siblings are welcome as well
