Bianca Presents at ACSM

Bianca Braun, Research Coordinator at the Interdisciplinary Health, Body Composition, and Neuroscience (i-HBN) Lab, presented research at the 2024 American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) conference in Boston, MA. Her investigation explored the differential relationships between fitness, body composition, and mental health in preadolescent children. Findings provide insights into how cardiorespiratory fitness and different adipose tissues in the body specifically relate to mental health in children.

Next Steps in Bianca’s Research

Bianca is particularly interested in exploring further how fitness and other health factors can bolster transdiagnostic protective factors like cognitive flexibility and emotion regulation during the sensitive period of childhood to prevent psychopathology. She aims to translate these findings into resilience-building interventions for community settings to create long-lasting and impactful change. Bianca is currently applying to Clinical Psychology PhD programs where she aspires to dive deeper and further explore these associations. Her research aligns well with i-HBN Lab’s interdisciplinary focus and public health perspective.
